Description
This department was inaugurated along with Govt: Medical College,Thiruvananthapuram. Component preparation facilities were established in our blood bank in late 1990s. In recognition of exemplarary service rendered the blood bank was upgraded as model blood bank in the year 2009. Department of Transfusion Medicine, Govt: Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram was the 1 st centre to start Post graduate degree in Transfusion Medicine in Kerala in the year 2008. Every year 3 specialists in Transfusion Medicine are passing out from this department. Currently the department is running under the expert guidance of Dr. K.C. Usha ably assisted by trained and experienced faculties. Qualified and experienced staff nurses and lab personnels are working round the clock to provide expert service to the patients population
